Picking oranges

Wednesday, Mom, my friend’s family, and I went picking oranges. All of my mom’s friends and us went picking oranges in a farm.

We woke up early and packed up for the trip to the farm. The farm was not very far but we had to wait for somebody on the way. We arrived in twenty minutes.

We got the baskets and ran inside the orange farm and started picking oranges off the branches. I was really surprised when all the oranges were green. I was expecting fresh, orange, juicy, and sweet oranges on the braches waiting for me to take them off. The kids were picking and the parents were resting. My friend (Rita) and I picked the best-looking oranges and put them in our baskets. We eventually got tired and sat down with our Moms and tasted the oranges we picked. My mom peeled an orange and gave it to me. I took a big bite and immediately spit it out. Oh my gosh!! That was the sourest thing I had ever tasted! It was so sour that even after I spit it out,my lips still twitched because of the sourness. Rita and I continued picking oranges. We found a perfect tree and started picking more. The oranges on the tree were golden and soft. We filled our basket and went to our parents again. This time I was careful and took a small bite. It was not so bad. The orange tasted like a lemon in a good way and sweeter. I started eating the rest of it. This time it tasted sweet, hearty, and warm in some way. We exited the orange farm and paid for the fruits we picked. I was tired but happy. I learned that you have to be patient picking oranges.

And after all, you can’t argue with oranges.
